Historically, Jordaan has been a working-class neighborhood, but today it has become a sort of enclave for artists and designers, making it an ideal place to stay in Amsterdam.

The positive aspect is that Jordaan is a beautiful and quiet neighborhood, much more authentic than other areas in the center of Amsterdam. However, the downside is that there are few hotels and it is considered an expensive area to stay in Amsterdam. Nevertheless, if you have the budget, we recommend it. You won’t regret it.

3. Oud Zuid: One of the Smartest Areas to Stay in Amsterdam

If you can’t find a hotel in the center, don’t worry. You will find better deals in the surrounding areas, especially in Oud Zuid. If you choose this neighborhood, you will have opted for one of the smartest areas to stay in Amsterdam. We especially recommend the Museum Quarter area. There you will find some of the best value-for-money hotels in Amsterdam.

Why this area? Because it houses three very important museums: the Van Gogh Museum, the Rijksmuseum, and the Stedelijk Museum. Additionally, it is perfectly connected to the center by tram.

Oud Zuid is a quiet residential area to stay in Amsterdam. You can see grand mansions and enjoy its magnificent green spaces like Vondelpark. If you love fashion, Oud Zuid will not disappoint. 5. Oost: An Economical Option

If you’re looking for good and affordable hotels in Amsterdam, you will find some in the residential area of Oost. It doesn’t have tourist attractions, but it does offer accommodations that will allow you to stay without spending too much. As the name suggests, this neighborhood is located on the east side of the city, quite far from the center of Amsterdam. However, during peak season, if you want to find hotels for around €100 per night, looking in this area might save you. In the low season, it’s easy to find rooms for €80.

The neighborhood is full of 19th-century buildings and several green areas, and it’s known for its bustling markets and great cultural diversity. In Oost, you will find restaurants with very diverse cuisines, a wide variety of local shops, and interesting terraces. As for the location, it will take you about an hour to walk to the city center, but only about 20 minutes by tram. Without a doubt, one of the best areas to stay cheaply in Amsterdam.
